I am one picky lady when it comes to cocktails. I'm honestly just really hard to please. If it's not a craft cocktail, I generally don't want it. So, I've become really good at making drinks at home or at parties so I can feel taken care of.

What I like to endearingly call "trouble" was born recently from my renewed love of gin thanks to lots of gin fizz on a trip to New Orleans. I had forgotten just how versatile gin is and that it goes with one of my favorite flavors in the world: lavender. It looks pretty and complicated, but I promise it's not. However, it's dangerous because it's so drinkable. I could sip this down real quick.

Recipe:

2 oz grapefruit juice

1 oz lavender simple syrup

1 tbs lemon juice

1 oz Empress 1908 gin

roses and lavender for garnish

  1. Mix the grapefruit juice, lavender simple syrup and lemon juice.
  2. Transfer to a glass of ice.
  3. Layer the Empress 1908 on top for a layered look, but mix when you're ready to drink.
  4. Garnish with pretty things. I used some roses for my tea and fresh lavender from the garden.
  5. Enjoy!

See? Easy peasy. :)
